FAQs

  • For custom cakes, cookies, and dessert orders, booking 2–3 weeks in advance is recommended. This gives us time to plan, design, and source anything special. Larger or more detailed cakes may require even more notice.

  • Yes. A 50% deposit is required to confirm all custom cake orders and any order over $100. Your order isn’t considered booked until the deposit is received. The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery.Deposits are refundable if you cancel with at least 72 hours’ notice.

  • We currently accept cash or e-transfer (to orders@blackoutbakery.ca). Please include your order number or name in the memo when sending payment.

  • Cancellations made at least 72 hours before pickup or delivery may receive a refund of your deposit. Cancellations with less than 72 hours’ notice may result in the deposit being forfeited, as ingredients and prep may already be underway. If cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, you may still be responsible for the full balance.

  • Design changes are usually possible if requested at least 5 days before pickup or delivery. After that point, prep and baking often begin, so adjustments — including changes to flavour, size, or theme — may not be possible. If you need to make a change closer to the date, contact me as soon as possible and I’ll do my best.

  • Yes! Delivery is available within Bradford and surrounding areas for an additional fee. The delivery charge depends on distance. Pickup is also available — details will be arranged once your order is confirmed.

  • All items are prepared in a kitchen that uses dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, and wheat. While I can take precautions upon request, I cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. Please share any allergy concerns before ordering so we can discuss safe options.

  • I always do my very best to match your inspiration photo as closely as possible — from colours and details to the overall design. Because every cake is handcrafted and decorated by hand, variations are normal, but my goal is always to deliver the look you’re envisioning.

  • Yes, I offer small and medium-sized wedding cakes, perfect for intimate celebrations or modern, minimalist weddings. While I’m newer to wedding designs, I’m happy to discuss ideas and bring your vision to life. Larger or more elaborate designs may require extra lead time.

  • Sometimes I can squeeze in a last-minute order if my schedule allows. Orders requested within 7 days of pickup may be subject to a rush fee due to the additional time, planning, and scheduling adjustments required. The fee depends on the size and complexity of the order. It’s always worth reaching out — if I can make it happen, I will!

  • Buttercream cakes should be kept refrigerated and removed 1–2 hours before serving so they’re soft and delicious. Cookies, brownies, and pops are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature unless otherwise noted. Once your order leaves the bakery, I’m not responsible for any damage during transport or storage — so drive carefully!

  • Because baked goods are perishable, all sales are final. If you have any issues with the quality of your order, please reach out within 24 hours of pickup or delivery and I’ll do my best to make it right.
